Anticipating the increase of long range wide-body aircraft in Europe, and the need to get more capacity to support its civil & military customers, Sabena technics decided to invest in a new hangar in its facility at Bordeaux-Mérignac airport (France).
This 10 000 sqm hangar will thus be able to accommodate, in maintenance or modifications activities, a long-range wide-body aircraft up to A350-1000/B777-9X, or up to three military transport aircrafts such as A400M simultaneously. This new asset will bring more flexibility as Sabena technics is offering long term agreements to its customers in order to secure slots and guarantee availability of resources in advance.
“It is essential for us to collaborate closely with operators, both to understand their needs and plan ahead in order to deploy our manpower and resources accordingly. We are extremely excited to be able to support more aircraft and offer additional capacity to our customers.” said Philippe Rochet, Group’s Chief Operating Officer. “This new facility will strengthen our position as a leading independent European MRO, with the highest levels of performance and quality.”
With the construction work starting this summer, this new hangar will be operational by January 2020.
