The roof of Chaoshan Airport terminal building is a spatial multi-curved welded spherical space frame structure in the form of positively placed quadrangular cones, with a length of about 315m along the direction of the central axis and a width of about 280m perpendicular to the direction of the central axis, of which there is an outdoor cantilevered roof of about 20m at the entrance of the south-eastern end of the terminal building.At the connection between the finger corridor and the main body of the terminal building, 1 temperature seam is installed to divide the whole terminal building roof into two parts. The roof space frame is supported by reinforced concrete columns through the supports, and the reinforced concrete columns are symmetrically arranged along the central axis of the terminal building, corresponding to the different elevations of the space frame support points, and the elevations of the top of the columns on one side are different, ranging from 13.8 to 17.6 m. The supporting columns are divided into inclined columns and straight columns, the peripheral supporting columns of the space frame are square cross-section outward inclined columns, and the middle columns are round reinforced concrete straight columns. The steel roof cover adopts the overall lifting construction programme in zones, taking into account the structural characteristics and the convenience of ground assembly, the structure is divided into 4 areas for overall lifting.The maximum lifting area of a single block is 11,592m2, and the maximum lifting mass is about 754t (A3 area).

The overall lifting steps of Chaoshan Airport Terminal Building are as follows: the lifting unit of each sub-district is assembled on the ground on the tyre frame with the space frame rods and the lower lifting point set up, the lifting frame and the hydraulic equipment are installed, and the upper and lower lifting points are connected with the use of stranded steel wires, and the space frame is formally lifted up until the space frame reaches the design position after the graded loading trial lifting and static lifting for 4h, the rods around the bearing are retrofitted, and the space frame is then unloaded to make the space frame drop on the concrete frame columns in graded loading.
